After 10+ years working inside some of the biggest payroll companies in the country, we saw the same pattern play out with every client. Every size. Every industry.
And they all had one thing in common: the big providers eventually stopped showing up.
The large payroll companies shifted their attention to enterprise clients. The DIY platforms like Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, and Patriot are built well, but they come with a hard limit. No one is managing it for the client. The small business owner is still running payroll without knowing what they're doing. Still figuring out onboarding, compliance, and time tracking on their own.
